Description
Mr. Ziegler was admitted to the New York Bar in 1968 and has been admitted to practice before the U. S. District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the District of Columbia, and the U. S. Court of Appeals for the Second and Federal Circuits.
He has served as Deputy Supervisor of the Town of Smithtown, Village trustee of the Village of the Branch, and Special Counsel to the Speaker of the New York State Assembly. Mr. Ziegler has served for 20 years as Village Justice for the Village of Nissequogue. He is a past-president of the Smithtown Township Arts Council, a Trustee of the Smithtown Historical Society, and former Director of the Suffolk County Bar Association’s Pro Bono Foundation.
Mr. Ziegler is a Past Director of the Suffolk County Bar Association, a member of the Nassau County
Bar Association, the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. He is the recipient of numerous awards for his bar association activities.
As a Village Justice, Mr. Ziegler was appointed by the Chief Administrative Judge of the State of New York to serve on the Office of Court Administration’s Local Courts Advisory Committee, which annually reviews proposals for changes in the law and makes recommendations to the New York State Legislature. He has lectured to judges on legal topics at the Office of Court Administration’s Continuing Judicial Education Programs.
Mr. Ziegler was appointed by the Administrative Judge of the Suffolk County District Court to serve as a court-appointed arbitrator in commercial small claims cases. He has served as an arbitrator for the Better Business Bureau in cases involving disputes between consumers and automobile manufacturers and dealers.
Mr. Ziegler was appointed by the Town Board of the Town of Smithtown to the three-person Town Board of Ethics, which provides ethical guidance to town officials. He has served as Chairman of the Board of Ethics.
Mr. Ziegler was recognized by the U. S. Junior Chamber of Commerce in 1980 as one of its “Outstanding Young Men of America” and was listed in Who’s Who in American Law. He has written on legal topics and lectured in the field of professional malpractice.
He has been named by his peers as a “Super Lawyer” in the NY metro area in the annual listing published in The New York Times.
