I got my start in real estate in 2003 after coming from a blue collar world of restaurant work and warehouse management positions. What I did not realize is how much both of those careers would help me in my real estate world. I learned early that as a waiter how much work it took to try and earn a few dollars while keeping a client happy. My biggest message from that job became “Anyone can get good food anywhere, If they are out then they are looking for the service that comes with that”. I use this to this day in my real estate career. Then my other career taught me what it takes to go from a ground floor worker to upper management. I learned so much about people and at one point I counted over 4000 employees I had worked with over a 3 year period. What I took most from that job was how to empower, motivate, and a clear sense of time management. I use all of these skills in my everyday life and I think that this has been a large key to the success that I have enjoyed at times in my real estate career.
I can truly say I have a very unique real estate career filled with a lot of ups, some downs which we all will have, but way more ups. I had a 9 out of 10 year period where I averaged over 100 transactions a year. I had a period where my job was to fly to Southern Cal to sell investment properties from Arkansas. I know jokes on me because why would Cali wanna buy in AR. Well I spent months flying out and seeing what others were selling and then figured out a better program and on my best and on one of my last trips before the market crash I wrote 105 contracts. So I have had some very special moments and some memories that I think very few other realtors have experienced and I am forever grateful for this business and so appreciative of everything it has allowed me and my family to enjoy. Whats a low you ask since I gave you highlights. Well after I took the trip and signed 105 offers, yep one highlight to low light example of ups and downs, the market crashed. 2008 market crash and I am working primarily investor market so I went from incredible to 9 months without a check, $17 in the bank account, 4 kids, new home. It happens to all of us and guess what? I still love my business, job, and the great people I get to meet on my journey.
Lastly I will say that I am leaving a company that I thought I would retire at. I loved the folks I worked with and had 12 years of memories with. But thank you Exp for this opportunity. As most of us have had opportunities and we look at everything out there and compare I just found this opportunity was one that I can’t pass up. Here’s to new meetings with incredible opportunities to meet some of the most incredible realtors in the world. Thank you Exp and here I come Exp world. Yall make sure to say Hi!!!
